LEGOKnight's Kingdom: Castle of Morcia Review

To all those Lego Castle-series afficianados out there - who aren't six years old :) - Lego has been savvy enough to bring back the old yellow minifigures-in-shining armor. The Castle Morcia is the creme-de-la-creme of all the available sets. Not only do you get a mildly ingenious, modular castle that can switch alliegences on the fly, but you get seven unique minifigures to populate it (not to mention scorpions, a frog, a day-glo spider and a skeleton!). From the ostensibly good King Mathias and his multi-colored Round Table (each of his four knights not only has a name, but a unique face and personalized sword, shield and facemask!) to the evil Morgoth - Melkor - Vladek, yes, that's it, each minifigure is armed to the teeth and looks the part, enough to intimidate any other medieval Lego minifigures you might have laying around. The set even includes a freaky-looking robotic scorpion/catapult! How can you resist the allure? You cannot, lego-maniac.

If you're a kid at heart, and there's an $80 void in your life that could be filled by little plastic knights in shiny armor and their awesome castle, the Castle Morcia will do it in spades. Or, if you actually have a kid and want to see him doing something non-video game related, the ever-useful trait of building can be fostered with this set. Whatever your age group, enjoy.

Lionel Holiday Central G-Gauge, Battery Powered Ready to Run Train Set Review

If you want it to run beyond the year you get it, do not buy any Lionel Holiday Train Set. I bought the Holiday Tradition Express set four years ago and it worked fine under the tree until this year. Now the thing does not work. I spoke to Lionel customer service and guess what - the set has been discontinued with no spare parts available. The service centers do not work on them. No refunds, no parts, no luck. It cannot be fixed at any price, so now I have a nice paperweight that looks like a holiday train. The kids are soooo disappointed not to see this running under the tree this year. How can an American icon like Lionel be such rip off artists by making such cheap (but still very expensive) toys?!?! I mean the run time on my set was maybe 20 - 30 times over the last four years just at Christmas time, and now the thing does not work with no way to fix it. However good the set looks, only purchase it if you want to ultimately waste your money! The irony here is that the supposed icon in model trains makes complete junk while another "no name" holiday train set I have has worked great for 20 years running. It is infuriating and sad at the same time that model electric trains are now considered overpriced throw aways by the so-called leader. I say save the couple hundred bucks and buy another brand of train!

Medicom Harry Potter: Severus Snape Real Action Heroes Figure Review

I purchased this a Christmas present for myself. I confess I was a little ashamed of myself for paying this kind of money for an action figure, but this is what geeks do. It is rare for a favorite actor to play a favorite character, but in this case this wonderful dichotomy occurred when Alan Rickman gave us one of the most amazing performances in film history by bringing Severus Snape to life. My shame in paying the price went away when I received this. It was AMAZING. Simply AMAZING. The box, the packaging, the quality. Mine is still safely packaged in the box. To me, it is something i will treasure for many years, and I don't want to pull the figure out of the box for that reason. The detail is stellar. The painting and the details are so precise. The only reason I gave this item 3 stars for durability is because i don't know how "durable" it would be under unknown conditions. It is certainly well made, but I would never EVER give it to a kid to use as a toy. This is something intended for fans who want to have a keepsake of their beloved potions master from the Potter saga. Its the same with the educational comment. I don't think that applies here, but I do want to stress that i was greatly impressed with the quality and presentation of this item. When I opened it, I was so overjoyed that I felt well justified in paying the amount that I did.

Mega Bloks P-51 MUSTANG Vintage WWII Airplane Review

This model is excellent and super well detailed. I bought this model for my son who is a 20 year old college student and is an airplane enthuasist and he loved it. Here is more what he said about the model than me.The P-51 by Mega Bloks is a super model at a cheap price, I suspect a model from Lego would be 20 to 30 dollars more at least. The plane is well detailed and cosmetically looks like a P-51, the engine covers pop off to reveal the giant V-12 motor. Overall a great model.There were a few little complaints though, one is that the wing is very hard to get onto the plane correctly and secure it. A few extra bracing parts may help if you have extra blocks. also the decals are positioned wrong, as US Army Air Force call letters were not reveresed but stayed in the same place on both sides of the plane. The letters should read on the one side MB P and on the other P MB. My only other problem with this set was the landing gear does not look like the real plane.
