It's a good scale of 1/20th. This kit includes an engine as well. Don't misunderstand the artwork on the box, this is not a toy, but a model kit to assemble of a Porsche 930 Turbo. The doors open, the rear "boot" (engine cover) does, and the front "bonnet" does as well to show the spare tire. If you are a Porsche fan as I am, this is a great addition to your model collection.

Drueke 832.97 3.75-Inch Plastic Chessmen Review

I like this set, I don't know why it is not more available, it seems that less and less vendors still carry it.

I guess some may consider it old fashioned b/c it doesn't yet have the "spare queen sales gimmick" that so many of the newer sets use today. Besides these rooks are sturdy and work well as a queen when turned upside down but, I suppose that idea went out of fashion with analog clocks. Also it has a felt paper base, though it is a high quality felt paper, much better than the stuff on the cheap "club special" sets. In fact it is the same kind of felt paper used on the fancy high dollar Studio Anne Carlton sets. But if you are un satisfied with the paper felt, enough real felt to re-felt the bottoms cost less than 50� at most fabric stores. With fabric felt, a pair of scissors, and rubber cement and your in business with real felt, So not a big deal.

The rooks are very nice, wide and well weighted not skinny little towers like other sets have.

The knights are just awesome, big and heavy and make a great sounding thud when dropped on c7 (or c2) forking the uncastled king and rook! I love the knights one of the best features of the set, However, they do look diferent than the ones in the stock picture above. The actual knights are molded with an open mouth.

I have had mine for about 5 years & the cross broke off the black king when it was dropped about 3 feet on to a hard tile floor. But it was easily & unnoticably repaierd with supper glue. The same thing also happened to both kings on my Ultimate Tripple Weighted set.

The online places that still have this set usually sell it for about 40 bucks. I was able to get for much less on a clearence sale. It should probably be priced less, but it is made in the USA, if that is important to you then the extra cost may be with worth it.

This is my favorite set. It used to be the standard weighted set at clubs and tournamets. But Drueke(Carom), would be well served by updating the set with a few more modern features such as, spare queens, fabic felt, and more competitve pricing (but not at the cost of out-sourcing the manufacture of the set to other coutries).

EDIT: 4/26/12 -- the current sale price of 30.56 w/ free Super Saver Shipping makes the set well worth it. Buy it at this price! It was $40.00 when I first wrote the above review. It also earned it the 5th star but if the price goes back to 40 then I'll rate it only 4 stars again.

ALSO, I THINK THE KNIGHTS ARE THE BEST PIECE IN THE SET! :-)

The box says "Mansions in Miniature", not mansion in minutes. Nothing on the box indicates this is a project that can be put together in an afternoon, or even a week or two. Look at the list of recommended tools that you should assemble before even beginning! It is designed to be an heirloom or collectible, and anyone who thinks a child could move a 25 lb. house around is kidding themselves. This is not a toy! It is for the serious miniaturist. I certainly wouldn't be letting my 6-year old play with something this delicate and difficult to assemble.

E-Flite EFL2625 Taylorcraft 450 ARF Review

This is an easy plane to assemble. I wouldn't agree with the manufacturers suggestion that it only takes three hours to assemble- your windows won't even be dry- you have to glue them in. You can assemble it with very modest (inexpensive) servos. A "480" motor will provide unlimited vertical.

Again, it's a good model. What is preventing it from being a great model is little problems. E-flite chose to use balsa in places that should have been plywood- specifically around firewall, ceiling strut, floor, and landing gear area. Fit and finish around landing gear "strengthened" area is especially poor. Battery hatch is difficult to insert batteries. Even 3s 1500 will be awkward to insert and secure.

In-flight handling is pretty good. Wind movement is very noticeable due to the short wings, and very light weight. Flys slowly well and glides like a champ.
