The War Game: World War Two is Pegasus Hobbies' entry into the board game world! A massive grand strategy level game for World War Two, this game is BIG! Originally written in 1995 and play tested for over 10 years on the L.A. gaming convention circuit, this game is very balanced and fun to play! The time is just after Pearl Harbor. America has been attacked, and the Germans are rampaging across Europe. Players control Germany, Great Britain, Russia, USA, Japan, Italy, and China. Even France is represented! WWII, The War Boardgame Review

What is this? A board wargame played using plastic miniatures over a gigantic map of the world.
Time Frame? World War II - scenarios from 1939 through a post-war east-west confrontation.
Scale? Global, strategic - land armies, airforces and naval fleets are representated abstractly using plastic miniatures. The board divides the world into areas which can be the size of whole countries - e.g. the eastern USA (east of Mississippi) is divided into two regions - northeast USA and southeast USA.
How difficult are the rules? The mechanics are straightforward and one would expect most adults and kids (>10) could pick this up within 15-30 minutes of play. But easy mechanics doesn't make it a simple game - like chess, the game can be quite involved.
How long does it take to play? - depending on the experience of the players, a game could take 2-5 hours to complete.
Wait a moment - isn't there a game like this already called Axis and Allies? YES - this game is quite similar to Axis and Allies which has gone into various editions and publishers (Milton Bradley, Avalon Hill, Hasbro, Wizards of the Coast, etc.) It has a strong similarity to Axis and Allies - the key differences seem to be (a) bigger map with more areas and sea zones - the board is about 3x the area of the A&A board, (b) most of the rules are similar with tweaks - sort of super sized A&A played with a few more home brewed rules.

Is it worth getting? Yes - but it helps if you really like board wargames, really like A&A, and appreciate high quality production - the board is terrific - mounted, coated and solid. The miniatures are OK - oddly they are all based on German figures - so the dark brown Russians have German style soldiers and tanks, as do the green USA troops. But this is a small quibble - if this bugs you, just substitute A&A figures from A&A Europe and A&A Pacific.
Would other (non-wargamers) like this? Well - it can be an intro wargame - no huge rule book with numerous references (e.g. "Movement Rule 2.3.1.1 - moving while under fire in a full moon"), but is it worth spending $80-100? - probably you could have as good a time with the A&A versions, but this is clearly a work of love by a designer and developer who loved the original A&A and wanted to do something more - a dream many A&A players have thought of at some point. The map is amazing - the image on the amazon website doesn't give it credit. The box pictured is about 60% BIGGER than the early edition big A&A box.

1966 TV Series Batmobile 1/43 Elite Review

It seems as though Mattel is doing their best to fill the void left in the lives of fans of the 1966 Batmobile during the last 20 years, by releasing replicas in every size and variety conceivable. Fortunately, most of these Hot Wheels vehicles have been very good, and this one is no exception.

It's a mystery as to why Hot Wheels decided to release this particular version in only an 'Elite Limited Edition', since this size replica would be probably the most desired by 'Batman' fans of a certain age. It's 1:43 scale makes it approximately the same size as the highly treasured vintage Corgi Batmobiles produced from 1966 through the late 70's. Although it doesn't feature the action features of the original Corgi toy ( such as the spring loaded 'chain slicer' or the thumb wheel activated missle launching rocket tubes ), this Hot Wheels replica is far more faithful in body shape and detailing. It was created ( as was it's larger scale cousins ) from scans taken of the original number one Batmobile, in the possession of George Barris, making it very accurate ( not 100%, as nitpickers will tell you, but extremely close ). It has wonderful detailing, such as the distinctive red pinstriping and the miniature Batphone between the seats.

It comes mounted in a nice collector's case which displays the car nicely, and allows movement of the working steering linkage. If one desires, the underside screws can be taken out, and the car removed - but why bother, when it looks so nice in it's case ( and really, this is not a toy that you'd want your kids rolling around on the floor ).

As I said in the title, it makes a great companion piece if you have one of the vintage Corgi's around, and visual comparison of the two shows just how far attention to accuracy has come in the last thirty years.

Nellie is a good doll to choose from. She was originally retired in 2009. I was lucky enough to get her in 2008 before the price of her went through the roof. This is a great radio with some wonderful features. I really like the Telemetry options with the biggest benefit the ability to see your receiver battery voltage during your flight. Another great feature is the two flight timers and they are configurable by switch or throttle. Nearly anything you could want to do with planes and gliders are reasonable to do with this radio. I have not tried using it for a Heli so I can't comment on those features.

On the down side, the radio has some very complex features that can be difficult to setup properly. The documentation that comes with the radio is several versions behind and while there are online updates, you have to search for it and go to online resources such as RCGroups to find the answers to complicated setup questions. I believe that updated documentation is a must and find this as a lacking feature in an otherwise great radio.

There are several versions of this radio available. The Transmitter is the same, what changes is the receiver you get packaged in the box. Pick the one you'll use and get that. Additional recerivers are available individually or in 3-packs. I use a bunch of receivers and don't like to take them in and out of planes so it's easier to have extras around than be lacking one during a new build. I primarily use the 7-channel receivers in my full build gliders as they have 6 servos and a throttle channel.

The receiver is easy to bind to the transmitter, I've outlined the steps below.

1 Turn on the Aurora TX and while it is displaying the YES NO Transmit screen > push and hold down the bind button > then press YES for transmit. This requires a bit of flexibility as the button to press is on module on the back and the switch is on the front.
2 Press and hold the button on the receiver, turn on the receiver, red LED is on solid, release the button on the receiver. Solid red and blue LED emits indicate it is linked with the module. I find it's easiest to do this with a receiver plugged into the battery with a switch, just turn on the switch while pressing the button.
3 A solid red LED and blinking blue LED on the module indicate when the linking process is completed.
4 Turn the Receiver Off First then turn the Transmitter Off Last.
5 Turn the Transmitter On First, red LED is solid on the module.
6 Turn the Receiver On Last, red LED is solid, after a moment, when both the module and receiver connected, the module will beep 4 times.
7 You should now have control over the model as the transmitter module and receiver are linked in Normal Mode.

Once you have the transmitter and receiver bound, always turn on the transmitter first to assure no wild signals or problems with your ESC and motor when turning on the receiver.

Warning: Be sure to field test your receivers before your first flight. I had one receiver that was bad (cold solder joint?) and ended up losing a plane because I didn't ground test it. The transmitter has a feature where you press the small button on the module for 2 seconds and release to place it in a low power mode. Then you can walk away from your plane and see how far you get while you remain in control of the surfaces. If you can't get at least 100' away in this low power mode, then do not fly the model as there could be an issue.

I believe the HPP-22 interface is essential to getting the most out of this radio [[HPP-22]]. I use it to backup and restore setup files for models, and updating the radio with new firmware. New firmware doesn't happen all that often so that is less of an issue. It is really nice to share setup files with other pilots.

4 stars, while it's a powerful radio the documentation is lacking which means that with a complicated plane setup you'll be spending time searching online for ways to accomplish what you want.
