This is a great radio with some wonderful features. I really like the Telemetry options with the biggest benefit the ability to see your receiver battery voltage during your flight. Another great feature is the two flight timers and they are configurable by switch or throttle. Nearly anything you could want to do with planes and gliders are reasonable to do with this radio. I have not tried using it for a Heli so I can't comment on those features.

On the down side, the radio has some very complex features that can be difficult to setup properly. The documentation that comes with the radio is several versions behind and while there are online updates, you have to search for it and go to online resources such as RCGroups to find the answers to complicated setup questions. I believe that updated documentation is a must and find this as a lacking feature in an otherwise great radio.

There are several versions of this radio available. The Transmitter is the same, what changes is the receiver you get packaged in the box. Pick the one you'll use and get that. Additional recerivers are available individually or in 3-packs. I use a bunch of receivers and don't like to take them in and out of planes so it's easier to have extras around than be lacking one during a new build. I primarily use the 7-channel receivers in my full build gliders as they have 6 servos and a throttle channel.

The receiver is easy to bind to the transmitter, I've outlined the steps below.

1 Turn on the Aurora TX and while it is displaying the YES NO Transmit screen > push and hold down the bind button > then press YES for transmit. This requires a bit of flexibility as the button to press is on module on the back and the switch is on the front.
2 Press and hold the button on the receiver, turn on the receiver, red LED is on solid, release the button on the receiver. Solid red and blue LED emits indicate it is linked with the module. I find it's easiest to do this with a receiver plugged into the battery with a switch, just turn on the switch while pressing the button.
3 A solid red LED and blinking blue LED on the module indicate when the linking process is completed.
4 Turn the Receiver Off First then turn the Transmitter Off Last.
5 Turn the Transmitter On First, red LED is solid on the module.
6 Turn the Receiver On Last, red LED is solid, after a moment, when both the module and receiver connected, the module will beep 4 times.
7 You should now have control over the model as the transmitter module and receiver are linked in Normal Mode.

Once you have the transmitter and receiver bound, always turn on the transmitter first to assure no wild signals or problems with your ESC and motor when turning on the receiver.

Warning: Be sure to field test your receivers before your first flight. I had one receiver that was bad (cold solder joint?) and ended up losing a plane because I didn't ground test it. The transmitter has a feature where you press the small button on the module for 2 seconds and release to place it in a low power mode. Then you can walk away from your plane and see how far you get while you remain in control of the surfaces. If you can't get at least 100' away in this low power mode, then do not fly the model as there could be an issue.

I believe the HPP-22 interface is essential to getting the most out of this radio [[HPP-22]]. I use it to backup and restore setup files for models, and updating the radio with new firmware. New firmware doesn't happen all that often so that is less of an issue. It is really nice to share setup files with other pilots.

4 stars, while it's a powerful radio the documentation is lacking which means that with a complicated plane setup you'll be spending time searching online for ways to accomplish what you want.
