5' x 4' Hexigonal Sandbox - Rain Cover Included Review

This sandbox is of extremely poor quality and the company was not agreeable to work with.

First, The sandbox arrived in about 18 puzzle like pieces with no assembly instructions. I was able to contact the company who emailed me instructions which was fine. While putting the sandbox together, I realized that the wood is very rough, splintered and badly cracked. I tried to overlook those dissatisfactions and continue to build this sandbox with the thought that I will sand it and reinforce the cracks upon completion. However, when assembling the seat, I was frustrated to find that the six seat pieces do not piece together correctly due to the pieces being unevenly cut. We were able to barely fit 5 of the pieces together, but when we went to fit the 6th piece on, it would not fit as it was displaced by about 2 inches. Third, the holes to place the nails in were not well aligned. Additionally, the bench like seats are unstable and are not meant to actually be sat upon as I felt as though my daughter would easily break the wood and/or fall off.

I contacted the company for resolution only to learn that they were now out of stock and expecting another shipment mid-april. Their solution was to replace the sandbox when their new shipment arrived. Concerned that the new shipment would be of the same quality as this first product, I shared with them all of my concerns and asked them what issues will be addressed with the new shipment. They had no response and just offered to throw in a pail and shovel sand toy. I then requested a full refund and indicated that I'd be more than willing to return the sandbox if they send me a return shipping label. I have not heard anything back from the company since my response and never received a refund. Luckily, I was able to file an Amazon A-Z Gaurantee claim and received a full refund of my money and still have not heard anything from the company which means that they do not get their crappy sandbox back.

With a little work, I'm wondering if I can salvage some of the pieces by sanding, refinishing, cutting some pieces to fit and reinforcing certain areas.
