I got this set for my 10yr old son, as he has been enjoying the game of chess over the last year or so. This is a nice sized board - not too small like those 12" boards, but not so big that it wont fit on the coffee table.
The chess pieces are quality, with a good weight. They are made of wood and have little accents on them. The pieces fit securely inside the board when not in use in preformed spaces so they cant roll around or get broken.
