Cover Girls of the DC Universe: Zatanna Statue Review

It seems appropriate that Zatanna is the focus of this wonderful 10" DC Cover Girls porcelain statue, as she appears nothing short of magical in this phenomenal rendition of artist Adam Hughes' cover for "Catwoman # 58." Zatanna Zatara, the Justice League's resident sultry sorceress, has never appeared so stunning.

This was my first purchase from the ongoing DC Cover Girls series, and I was definitely impressed by both the superb craftsmanship and precise detailing put forth in this statue. Clearly, DC Direct spent the necessary time and effort to make this limited edition collector's item worthy of its current price. Further, having being admittedly burned in the past by deceptive advertising, I believe the promotional photos here absolutely do Zatanna's statue, pardon the expression, "justice," as they display exactly what you would be purchasing.

However, as a `buyer beware' to fellow consumers, I will note purchasing this item may not be easy as it sounds. I had pre-ordered this statue a few months ago, and then, to my surprise, I was informed last week that it wasn't currently available, even though the announced release date was in late August. Presumably, the lack of on-line supplies has been corrected by now (or will be soon), so that you can still snag one of only 5,000 copies produced for this statue's circulation run. I frankly consider myself most fortunate that I was still able to track a copy down.

With that thought in mind, I heartily recommend this statue as a valued treasure for any Zatanna fans and for those with a timeless appreciation for super hero comic books. With an assist from your trusty keyboard, you can give a magical command of "Make this fantastic statue appear!!," or as Zatanna would cheerfully exclaim, "ekaM [...] citsatnaf raeppa!!"

And, presto, this statue shall appear (in a few weeks, of course).
